Day 4: God-glorifying Thought Life

God-glorifying Thought Life | Sandra Prabhakher

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

 (Philippians 4:8 NLT)‬‬

In our endeavor to constantly maintain an attitude of positivity & thanksgiving, one of the most important things is to monitor our thought life.

It’s understandable to easily dwell on whatever thought crosses our minds, and this is often based on what we watch, read or listen to. As I was pondering how to go about this practice of filtering my thoughts, I felt the Lord saying- Ensure the thought glorifies My Name.

How can we confirm that a thought glorifies His name? Based on the verse in Philippians 4:8, we often tend to dwell on thoughts that may check the first box of being ‘true’, but that doesn't quite satisfy the rest of the criteria – that is, dwelling on thoughts that are honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent & praiseworthy.

Let's intentionally practice doing this, applying the truth in the above scripture.

When a thought comes to mind, check it against the criteria below, and only if all the boxes are checked, then we should allow our minds to dwell on that particular thought -

✔️true

✔️honorable/good

✔️right

✔️pure

✔️lovely

✔️admirable

✔️excellent

✔️praiseworthy

Last, I want to leave you with something I once felt the Lord telling me – “What you focus on gets magnified, and what you starve your attention from gets minimized.”

I believe that as we do this deliberately and consistently, it will help our hearts and minds to increase in thanksgiving and positivity.

Happy Thoughts = Happy Life!
